Knockspell Issue #2 cover art

April 11, 2010

I received Knockspell Magazine issue #2 last week. I took it to work and read it from cover to cover. I starting look at the wonderful cover, the dungeoneer coming down from the collapsed roof looking for adventure and treasure. I then noticed the goblinoid creature in the lower right peeking around the pillar. At first I thought the adventurer was going to get attacked right when he landed that's when my minded started to wander. I started feeling sorry for the creature. He looked in a sad state of affairs with the ragged clothing it is wearing. Maybe it hadn’t eaten in a day or so. I couldn’t get my eyes of the poor green creature.

All in all, it is a great cover with so much emotion if you just take a little time to look it over.

Map for Border Scourge

April 7, 2010
Well for the past week I've really been typing away on my new adventure module for Swords & Wizardry. Border Scourge will be a 1st level module involving wilderness, urban and underground adventuring. I wanted to go really old school TSR with my maps going forward. I use Paint Shop Pro for my graphics and Fractal Mapper 8 for some editing. Let me know what you think.

The City of Ebros

March 14, 2010
For the past 2 weeks I've been working within Fractal Mapper 8 on a new city map. I've had this program for about 2 1/2 years and really havent explored all of its function. The city is probably to big for the Ebonyr campaign setting. I may take several sections of the city and create a city that can be used for Ebonyr. If you have any questions or comments use the blog comments or email me.

New adventure idea

March 12, 2010
I'm starting to think about writing my next VisionVenture adventure using the Swords and Wizardry ruleset. Gathering ideas can be rather tedious, but quite necessary. I was thinking about starting the adventure in Heirandos, capital of Sherran and moving out from there.

One ideas starts the adventure with the PCs hanging out in a tavern (who would of thought!), they hear gurgled screams behind the tavern in a alley. When the move to investigate all they see is blood streaks and a open manhol...

Halfling redux

March 7, 2010
I have an artist working on a remake of halfling for the Ebonyr campaign setting. I wanted to keep the same height and weight as "regular" Halflings so that doesn't change. However, I gave them thin monkey tails, monkey feet and longer noses. Here's the rough draft drawings so far.

Working on more humans

February 17, 2010
I was fleshing out the Asian-type humans today and it got me thinking about what authors influence me. I would say that David Eddings has really influenced me the most. The Riven Codex is almost like a bible to me. It keep it nearby and reference it almost once a day.

Here is a peek at the Ajori/Shinai human race (East Asian Analog)
The Shinai skin tone ranges from pale to tan with a yellow undertone. Hair color is black or dark brown and straight and their almond shaped eyes are normally brown...

Races of Ebonyr updated

February 14, 2010
For the past few days I've been fleshing out the races of Ebonyr. I've decided to use only the Swords & Wizardry Core Rules races which are humans, elves, dwarves and halflings. To give the humans more flavor I've made them analagous with human races in the real world.

Example:
Roakan (European/Slavic)

Azadi (Arabic/Berber)

Typical male Roakan

Lyncanthi War Galleon

February 7, 2010
I read a really neat post on Giant in the Playground about campaign settings. So I started with Autorealm again on creating a sailing ship that uses Mythenin infused sails that used lightning to move them quickly during battle or bad weather.

I'll be discussing the substance of Mythenin in future posts.

Here's the Lightning sail war galleon

First post on new blog

February 5, 2010
I've decided to move my blog from Wordpress to my website. Yola (website provider) has this nice blog feature and it got me thinking why I have two sites.

Well, its been over a year since I last podcast ed (word?). I stopped because I was disappointed in how my intro sounded, how to store the podcast and disseminate the podcast. For the last month while I've been working dilligently on the Ebonyr campaign setting, I got the itch to explore podcasting again.

I been working with audacity, mixing ...
